Great item, great price!,
I looked at many fm/bluetooth transmitrers and at first I was going to try the more expensive one that looks just like this one, but after comparing them I realized that they were the same. Since I don’t really need the extra cable the more expensive one has, I went with this one. I never write reviews, this is my first one, but I have to write one for this item. The pairing was very easy and it is a very simple set up, no cables, nothing. The sound quality was very good for both phone calls and music. By the way, I have an iPhone 4. I can use the device to turn the volume up/down, advance/rewind songs and answer/end calls. I was skeptical of using an fm transmitter, but this has truly surpassed my expectations.

|Functionality vs Cost,
I’m still struggling to fully enjoy this thing. There aren’t very many products that do what this item does, so I really do want to like it, but I’m kinda bummed about it. This is my opinon:
Pros:
It connects bluetooth to the phone very easily. It charges my phone through the USB port. It is very sturdy in the cigarette lighter receptacle. It kinda looks cool.
Cons:
Its definitely larger and longer than I had expected. My lighter plug is on my dash, above my manual shifter, near my steering wheel. Since its kinda big and doesnt flex that easily, its always in the way. If your lighter plugs in directly to the vertical face of your dash, be warned: it takes the entire length of flex arm to bend the controller 90 degrees. This will take up a lot of space. The play/forward/reverse buttons dont work with my ATT Samsung Captivate. I live in a big city so I’m always picking up static. It cant seem to scan to a clear station. It also cuts in and out completely from time to time. I’m not sure if this is the bluetooth, FM, or a general error. The sound isnt the best either. It doesnt seem to put out a full range of sound. It’s seems worse than radio and actually kinda reminds me of a cassette tape.
Conclusion:
This stuff isnt new technology. Its an expensive adapter for such a simple idea. I would have expected $50+ when bluetooth first came out, but not in 2011. For $50 it should have been smaller, more maneuverable, and have a fuller range of sound. I give it a 3 out of 5.

|Well thought out product,
This product is actually offered under three different names here on Amazon so I am not sure who actually makes this. This version and the one with over a hundred reviews are both around 50 dollars. There is a third one that is around 30 dollars.
I chose this model because it was the only one fulfilled by Amazon, and let’s face it, their customer service and return policy are pretty much unbeatable for online shopping. Plus, I am a prime member so shipping was free.
Okay, so on to the device itself. This device works very well. FM reception is as good as any I have heard. I do hear mild to moderate hiss during silent/low-volume/soft parts of music or talk. When the speech or music reaches any kind of volume the hiss disappears (or is masked by the louder volume). It is easy to find a station, and the device remembers the station when turned off. This allows for an easier start up, and I can program the station into my car radio. My phone (Mytouch 4G) automatically pairs with the device as long as bluetooth is enabled on my phone. Music played on the device sounds full and stereo imaging is decent. I love being able to pause and skip ahead using the devices buttons while listening to Slacker Radio (which does not allow rewind).
The speaker phone works fairly well. I am told by people I have called that the quality is better than most speakerphones but not as good as direct/hands on use. The call quality on my end sounds great.
I love that this device has the ability to charge my phone. I often put my phone in a cradle and use it for GPS and music (using Slacker Radio). Listening to music requires my 4G connection and bluetooth. Using GPS, 4G streaming, and bluetooth would suck the battery down quickly if the phone were not plugged in. Many of the other bluetooth FM transmitters have to be charged and offer no phone charging. This can be overcome using an 12v DC outlet splitter, but that is just too cumbersome for me.
Pros: A trifecta of coolness with bluetooth FM transmitting, usable speakerphone, and phone charging.
Cons: would love some sort of affordable dash mount version of this device which would eliminate the goose-neck. However, this limitation at this price point does not warrant the reduction of a star.
